NFC North Preseason Power Rankings
Before we officially lay out our NFC North predictions, we first want to give a quick breakdown of the teams within the division. The Vikings, last season’s NFC North champions, let go of RB Dalvin Cook and also lost some major pieces on defense. The Packers no longer have Aaron Rodgers behind center, but they should remain elite defensively. As for the Bears, QB Justin Fields is certainly dynamic, but they’re still a young team trying to figure themselves out.
Finally, the Lions enter this season with massive hype that the franchise hasn’t seen in a while, if ever. They return most of their talent from last season’s 9-win team and upgraded at key positions in the draft. NFC North Predictions, Picks & Best Bets for the 2023-24 NFL Season
It may be a tall task to put faith in a franchise that hasn't had a division title since 1993, but that’s exactly what we’ll be doing in our NFC North predictions. This is a different Detroit Lions bunch than who they stereotypically are, and last campaign's end-of-the-year run was proof of just that.
It appeared that this may be the same old Lions club even after switching up regimes after beginning last season 1-6, but they capped it off by winning eight of their last 10 games. Now, head coach Dan Campbell has his guys ready to play for a division crown with it being so wide open.
QB Jared Goff is coming off a stellar season, WR Amon-Ra St. Brown is quickly becoming one of the league’s best wideouts, their offensive line is a top-five unit in the NFL when healthy, and they drafted two dynamic offensive weapons in RB Jahmyr Gibbs and TE Sam LaPorta. Oh, and they’ll also get a healthy Jameson Williams back once he serves his six-game suspension.
The offense should remain near the top of the league from a statistical standpoint again, but the main question marks stem from the defensive side of the ball. It was certainly why they didn’t win as many games as they should have last season, but they revamped it during the offseason. They brought in DBs Cam Sutton and CJ Gardner-Johnson while also drafting Brian Branch and LB Jack Campbell.
Detroit was already solid a season ago, and they undeniably got better during this past offseason. It’s hard to say the same thing about any other team in this division except maybe Chicago. With that said, our top NFC North predictions see the Lions winning the division (+120 at Caesars Sportsbook) in the 2023-24 NFL season.
